Archdeacon Emeritus Lidis Singkung

Wanted to be a politician but later chose priesthood ministry; ordained deacon in 1987 here in St. Michael’s and All Angels Church Sandakan and priested in his home church, Holy Cross Mission Kuala Sapi, a year later. He is married to Grace and they are blessed with three daughters Gabrielle, Amanda, and Clare. Apart from being Rector of St. Michael’s and All Angels Sandakan, he is also the Archdeacon of the East Coast Archdeaconry of Sabah Diocese, and Chaplain of St. Michael’s Secondary School Board of Management. He earned his Bachelor of Theology at Trinity Theological College Singapore. He is also one of the tutors at the Sabah Diocese Anglican Training Institute (ATI). He speaks English, Malay, and several other local ethnic dialects.

revd. James Yap Ket Vui

At the age of 13, he accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour and Lord of his life. He is passionate in Boy’s Brigade, Choir as well as Worship Ministry. During his Form 4 studies, he heard God’s calling and sought confirmation from his priest and the church. Then, in 2006-2009 he was sent by Bishop Datuk Yong Ping Chung to Malaysia Theological Seminary (STM) in Seremban to study Bachelor of Theology.

On April 1st, 2010, he was transferred by the Late Bishop Datuk Albert Vun Cheong Fui to St. Peter’s Church, Tenom to minister as the first resident priest. With the support of his wife, Archbishop Datuk Melter Jiki Tais, and the leadership of the church, he completed his Master of Ministry at Sabah Theological Seminary (STS) in 2018. He served in St. Peter’s Church Tenom for 12 years (2010-2022).

He is married to Florence Liau, and they are blessed with a daughter, Jayne Yap. As a homeboy of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels, he returned to his home church to serve as a curate under the leadership of Archdeacon Lidis on August 1st, 2022. He understood his calling and purpose in pastoral ministry which is to love God and love people.
